Austrians gathered in the streets of Vienna on Dec. 11 to march against the government’s introduction of vaccine mandates.

According to the Central News Agency, the Austrian government recently introduced mandatory vaccine measures, including mandatory vaccination of the public, as well as the order of home isolation for those who have not been vaccinated. After the launch of the measure, it triggered people to take to the streets in protest.

The day’s protests drew some 44,000 people, according to reports. In addition to Vienna, some 2,500 people demonstrated in Klagenfurt in the south against anti-epidemic restrictions, while 150 people took to the streets in Linz in the north.

Demonstrators in Vienna held signs such as “No to vaccine mandates” and “Don’t touch our children” and chanted slogans such as “We are the people” and “Resist” and other slogans.

One person in the march told AFP, “I’m not a neo-Nazi or a thug, I’m just fighting for freedom and against vaccines.” Another protestor said that these government actions are not the right choice for a democratic country.

On the 20th of last month, tens of thousands of people also took to the streets of Vienna to protest the government’s introduction of vaccine mandates.

Recently, as European governments have launched mandatory vaccine policies, large protest marches have been breaking out in many European countries.
