Exclusive: Anti-Woke ‘Strive’ Unveils $DRLL to Go to War Against BlackRock, ‘Depoliticize Corporate America’

The anti-woke asset management firm Strive is taking on the likes of BlackRock to “depoliticize corporate America” so consumers can embrace commerce without compromising their values, Strive’s Head of Corporate Governance Justin Danhof says.

In an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Daily, Danhof detailed how the “Big Three” asset management firms in the United States — BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard — are using their trillion-dollar leverage to impose woke policies on the corporations they hold large stakes in.

Strive, Danhof said, has launched to tackle the Big Three’s grip on the asset management industry with a goal to end what he calls “an ideological cartel” in corporate America.

LISTEN:

“We’re a new asset manager that has … just this new ambitious idea of taking on the behemoth Big Three which is BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard that really acts as an ideological cartel these days,” Danhof said of Strive. “You could almost think of them as a monarchy of sorts you know, 250 years after we dusted off the British, we’re fighting a new monarchy again.”

“These three asset managers control $22 trillion in asset fund management. And so, if you think about that … that’s greater than the GDP of the United States of America,” Danhof explained. “And what do they do with that money? Well, they use their shareholder vote and their advocacy, that is their engagement with business, to affect culture in ways that most Americans disagree with.”

Danhof said environmental, social, and governance — known as ESG — is driving asset management firms to pressure corporations on a swath of left-wing issues.

“They use that $22 trillion in assets because they are upstream from American businesses to tell American businesses how to act,” Danhof said. “In a very large sense, what your audience sees every day with actions by Bank of America debanking gun clients or Nike pulling a Betsy Ross tribute shoe or Chevron and Exxon, for example, canceling energy projects here in the United States and abroad, a lot of the times you can actually point upstream and see that the largest shareholders of these companies are actually pressuring them to take these actions that are, again, going against the will of not only everyday citizens … but very often the folks who have their hard-earned money … with BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard.” [Emphasis added]

Most crippled by ESG, Danhof said, is the American energy sector. In response, Strive launched its first product on the New York Stock Exchange — $DRLL.

“We’re going to use our voice and our vote to engage with corporate America to say ‘Hey, why don’t you focus on making excellent products and services for your customers and let culture warriors fight the culture, let politicians battle in the political arena where they are accountable to everyday citizens for that type of vote,’” Danhof said.

“Our first product is an exchange-traded fund, an ETF, and the ticker symbol is $DRLL. And it won’t surprise you to know that this is an energy product,” Danhof said. “We think that under the guise of ESG, there has been no sector that has been harmed more by this push for stakeholder capitalism ESG  than the U.S. energy sector.”

“When you look at the fact that last year, three climate change dissidents were voted onto Exxon Mobile’s board of directors, when you look at the Chevron annual shareholder meeting that took place in 2021 and more than 60 percent of the shareholders voted for Chevron to decrease its scope of reemissions … which is every single thing that Chevron does … and these are supported by the Big Three — Blackrock, State Street, and Vanguard,” he continued.

“This is truly a shackle on the American energy industry that I think a lot of everyday Americans overlook that aspect of why they’re paying so much at the pump,” Danhof said. “And so we’re going to use $DRLL to educate everyday Americans as to part of the problem being this upstream shackle that is going on by the largest asset managers in the United States to the companies that they’re invested in — Chevron, Conoco, Valero.”

Danhof said the climate change activism of BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard is most hypocritical in the energy sector because for every project abandoned by an American energy company, another foreign-owned company is likely to pick up.

“BlackRock is one of the largest investors in a company that is poised to pick up any projects that an American company might abandon and that company just so happens to be PetroChina where BlackRock is the largest outside … one of the largest [investors],” Danhof said. “And so they’re taking from the left hand and giving to the right hand.”

The left-wing pressure on companies comes from all industries, Danhof explained, including the nation’s biggest banks.

“Part of it is also a sideways attack because there are also a lot of shareholder proposals put forward to financing companies — such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Bank of America — that are telling them that they must align their financing with the goals of the Paris Climate Accord,” Danhof said. “And in many cases, these corporations are agreeing to that.”

“Berkshire Hathaway this year, thankfully they voted it down, there was a shareholder resolution to say that you must align your insurance underwriting with goals of the Paris Climate Accord,” he continued.

“Now guess where that resolution actually passed — was at the Travelers Insurance Companies annual shareholder meeting this past year,” Danhof said. “… [I]f the energy sector can’t get financing and they can’t get insurance and their largest shareholders are shackling them, there’s a lot of real fear in that industry.”

Danhof said Strive is “here to be a different voice and say ‘Be not afraid … this monolithic boom that you’ve heard for so long, we’ve got another voice and we’ve got another vision for your sector.’”

“We’re forging a new path to try and depoliticize corporate America by using a different voice and vote than the current ideological cartel,” he said. “… [T]here are lots of voices that are now willing to speak up against this elite ruling class that is trying to dictate decision making through this stakeholder capitalism paradigm.”

BlackRock, in particular, has become a fixture of woke capitalism.

In February, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink urged corporate leaders to pursue a climate change agenda. Strive Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Vivek Ramaswamy blasted Fink.

“[Fink] should be honest about whether he wants BlackRock’s portfolio companies to pursue their own corporate purposes or the purposes that BlackRock favors,” Ramaswamy wrote in an op-ed.

Last year, BlackRock faced protests from Alabama, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia coal miners after Warrior Met Coal, whose biggest shareholder is BlackRock, failed to deliver a better union contract after years of workers accepting pay cuts and dwindled benefits.

Aside from their left-wing agendas, the largest asset management firms often deploy business practices aligned with their globalist worldview. In 2020, for instance, the Vanguard Group announced that it was laying off about 1,300 American IT workers and sending their jobs to the India-based outsourcing firm Infosys.

Vanguard had previously outsourced American jobs to the India-based Tata Consulting Services which, like Infosys, imports large numbers of H-1B foreign visa workers to take IT jobs before eventually outsourcing the job to India altogether.

Jerome Hudson, filling in for host Alex Marlow, opens with the news that Arizona’s Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema caved. She’s joined Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to help Joe Biden pass a 9-figure Build Back Better-lite called the Inflation Reduction Act, which reportedly won’t reduce inflation and may make it worse. Speaking of inflation, food lines in America are getting longer under Biden as pet owners are abandoning their furry friends at alarming rates because the cost of feeding them is sky high. Then, Biden ends another week as virtual president and has tested positive for COVID again. Plus, FBI Director Chris Wray warns of potential terror attacks from Afghanistan. Finally, WNBA Star Brittney Griner was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison on drug charges, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has sidelined a George Soros-backed state’s attorney. Our guest today is John Hayward, Breitbart’s deputy editor for international news. John unpacks House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan and China’s attention-seeking response to it. He also highlights the potential danger of a Chinese food manufacturing company that has bought 300 acres of land in North Dakota, just 20 minutes from the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Exclusive — Sen. Rand Paul: Congress Has to Borrow from China to Send $40 Billion in Aid to Ukraine

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News Daily that America has to borrow the money to send $40 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Breitbart News Daily host Alex Marlow spoke with Paul as the Senate remains poised to pass legislation that would send $40 billion in military and economic aid to Ukraine while Americans grapple with inflation and food shortages. Paul has “single handedly” worked to hold up the Ukraine package, contending that the package needs an inspector general to ensure that the billions of dollars are spent wisely.

Paul said that America would have to continue borrowing from China to appropriate the proposed Ukraine aid package.

“I think it’s important to know that we don’t have any money to send, we have to borrow money from China to send it to Ukraine. And I think most people kind of get that, and many Republicans will say that when it’s a new social program, but if it’s military aid to a country, they’re like we can borrow that, that’s a justified borrowing,” Paul explained to Marlow.

Paul served as one of the 11 Senate Republicans to vote against advancing the Ukraine aid package, which included Sens. Hawley, Mike Crapo (R-ID), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Mike Braun (R-IN), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL).

The Ukraine aid procedural vote strikes a contrast between establishment Republican views on foreign policy, which favor more activist intervention abroad, and populist senators such as Paul, who believe that America should not engage in endless wars and conflict abroad.

Paul said that Republicans’ contribution to America’s deficit undermines their argument that President Joe Biden is solely responsible for the rampant inflation under his administration.

The Kentucky senator said, “The problem is that it all leads to inflation, so it kind of hurts the Republican argument that Biden’s spending and Biden’s debt leads to inflation, except for when it’s bipartisan spending and that doesn’t really count.”

Republicans added over $100 billion in new debt with Democrats in providing direct subsidies to semiconductor companies and also by increasing the National Science Foundation, one of the most wasteful organizations in Washington.

Paul lamented in his interview with Breitbart News Daily that many Republicans are now lining up to grant $48 billion in coronavirus relief to restaurants, even though most coronavirus lockdowns have been over for at least a year.

The Kentucky senator noted that many Republicans and Democrats liked the idea of having an inspector general have oversight on the tens of billions of Ukraine aid; however, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) pushed senators away from Paul’s proposal because the inspector general would be “ruthless” with the spending.

Paul said that it is a good idea to have a “zealous guardian” of the taxpayers’ money.

Marlow asked why so many Republicans, even though they sound like Paul in terms of rhetoric, often vote to borrow from China to send money to Ukraine.

Paul said the “bipartisan consensus” is to have Republicans vote for increased military spending, and Democrats boost social welfare spending.

“This is the bipartisan consensus right now on Ukraine. Republican and Democrat leadership are exactly the same. So they get together. But in order to get together to get this, it’s guns and butter, you look at the $40 billion, it’s a lot of guns, but in order to get the gun they had to give out a lot of butter and so there’s a lot of spending going to European countries for food throughout the world,” Paul said.

He added, “What we’ve done is given away the farm to make us weaker.”

Breitbart News Daily Podcast Ep. 136: Pennsylvania Showdown: Interviews with Kathy Barnette, Dave McCormick

Today’s podcast features two interviews and two interviews only. So, no monologue from host Alex Marlow, but if you are craving one, you can listen to it on the SiriusXM app. Alex spends a lot of time with Pennsylvania Republican Senate primary candidate Kathy Barnette this morning. She’s the outsider candidate who has had a meteoric rise, but not without controversy. Alex covers it all with her. She doesn’t directly answer all of his questions, but she does break news in the instances when she does. Then, Alex speaks to another Pennsylvania Republican Senate primary candidate, David McCormick. He has a wildly different background and demeanor than Barnette, though they apparently have arrived at very similar politics. McCormick comes right at apparent front-runner Dr. Mehmet Oz in his segment and provides a couple of stark contrasts between him and Barnette as well. And while Barnette lacks some polish, she does get the people going. McCormick comes off as more of a consummate professional, but is that even helpful in our current political environment? The voters will decide tomorrow.

Exclusive — Mark Paoletta: Democrats ‘Hate Clarence Thomas Because He’s a Black Conservative’

Democrats “hate” Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas “because he’s a black conservative who has never bowed to their view of what a black man should think,” said Mark Paoletta, former general counsel to the Office of Management and Budget under former President Donald Trump.

Paoletta spoke to Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow on Friday about how Democrats are targeting Thomas to push for recusal and impeachment standards for justices. As Breitbart News previously reported, sources in Washington, DC, speculate Democrats are focusing their ire on Justice Thomas and his wife Ginni, a conservative grassroots activist, in an attempt to force the most conservative justice to recuse himself from nearly every major issue before the Court.

Paoletta specifically recounted his Wednesday testimony from a House Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property hearing, in which he defended Thomas’s record and accused Democrats of politically and racially motivated attacks.

“It was just an excuse to have a hearing to go after Justice Thomas for these bogus kind of ethics charges against him, which is that his wife has a career and has opinions, and when she expresses them, he can’t be a judge or can’t rule on any of those issues,” Paoletta told Marlow. “So it’s an absolutely absurd standard. That’s never been applied to any justice or judge in history.”

LISTEN:

During a somewhat heated portion of testimony, Paoletta pointed out that Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who is chair of the House committee investigating January 6, has called Justice Thomas an “Uncle Tom,” a racist trope derived from the Harriet Beecher Stowe novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The term is often “used by the left to describe black conservatives as zealously subservient and overeager to win the approval of white people, Breitbart News previously reported.

Paoletta brought up Thompson’s actions when Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) asked him to support his “incendiary charge” that the left “hate[s] Thomas because is a black conservative who has never bowed to those who demand that he must think a certain way because of the color of his skin.”

Paoletta replied, pointing out that Thompson had called Thomas an “Uncle Tom because of his views on voter ID and affirmative actions, when, in fact, more black Americans support voter ID and with respect to affirmative action in college education, 62 percent are opposed to it.”

“So that,” Paoletta continued, “is the most vile, disgusting thing you can say.”

The Democrat congressman cut off Paoletta and seemed to defend Thompson’s use of the racial slur, saying, “there are a lot of vile disgusting things that can be said. … The notion that that is, when some members on this side of the aisle and others have been called the N-word throughout different points of our life belies the point that you have a particular bias.”

“And if Chairman Bennie Thompson has an observation to make, he’s entitled to free speech,” Jeffries continued. “You apparently believe that Ginni Thomas, regardless of how many conflicts she has, is entitled to her own political opinions as well.”

Paoletta offered to provide more evidence of the left’s hatred of Justice Thomas, but Jeffries refused to let him continue, shortly replied, “No,” and called on another witness.

During Breitbart News Daily, Paoletta boiled the hearing down to a “multi-year attack” on the Supreme Court because it “finally has a working majority of conservative justices.”

“The left is worried that they’re going to sweep away in the next few weeks, in the next few years — because they don’t control the Supreme Court — lots of liberal landmark rulings,” he said.

However, Paoletta said Americans should not be too worried about Democrats’ scheme to discredit Justice Thomas because “there’s no merit to it.”

“On the ethics thing, Justice Thomas has not had to recuse himself at all under the current recusal standards. Ginni Thomas should continue to do what she’s been doing, which has been being active in the public square. They’re two separate people that have their own opinions and can have their own careers,” he said.

He also noted that performance politics are not popular with most voters, especially when everyday Americans are grappling with the chaos created by the Biden administration.

“How does it play with the American people when you have inflation going crazy, gas prices, and crime going out of control, people just flooding across the border? I think the American people are gonna have the reaction, ‘What are we doing here?’”

Exclusive – Sebastian Gorka: Members of Biden Administration Should Be Prosected for Aiding Cartels, Human Traffickers

Dr. Sebastian Gorka told Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow in a Thursday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily that people like U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas should be prosecuted for assisting cartels and human traffickers through their failed border policies.

“Two million illegal aliens are being released into the nation,” Gorka told Marlow on Thursday.

“What is occurring on the southern border with women, with children — it’s slavery,” he continued. “It is the abuse of human beings by other human beings, they’re being sold, they’re being trafficked, and it is being perpetrated; assisted by this administration.”

Gorka added that he would like to see people like Mayorkas be prosecuted.

“I’m not interested in subpoenas, I’m not interested in the House investigating these guys after we win in the midterms,” Gorka said. “I want these people to be prosecuted, I want them to be charged. They are aiding and abetting criminal cartels.”

Listen Below:

Gorka also asserted that this type of corruption and criminal behavior in government has been going on for quite a while.

“Let’s just have a spreadsheet of the last 20 years in terms of corruption and illegality in government,” Gorka said. “What have we seen? [Former U.S. Attorney General] Eric Holder, the wing-man for Obama, who really turned the DOJ into a criminal organization, he was held in contempt of Congress.”

“Lois Lerner, who was found guilty, who we know was targeting American patriots, Tea Party organizations, with IRS investigations that were illegal, she leaves her job with a full government pension of more than $100,000 a year,” he added.

Gorka, therefore, maintained “It’s time for us to get serious.”

“I’ve had it with limp-wristed, spineless politicians who say they’re going to subpoena, the Lindsey Graham’s of the world, ‘We’re going to get serious.’ No, you’re not,” he said.

“We need to see people charged — government officials and former government officials, who’ve committed crimes,” Gorka insisted.

Breitbart News Daily Podcast Ep. 98: A Woke Mediocrity on America’s Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson Flops on Hill, Guests: Paris Dennard, Crypto Expert Teeka Tiwari

Host Alex Marlow offers a rare single-issue opening monologue on today’s podcast. He focuses on President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Q&A session before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday. Senate Republicans did a relatively effective job of not only making Jackson seem like perhaps the most radical judge to be considered for the highest court in the land but dishonest too. Jackson faired significantly worse than we anticipated. Our first guest, RNC spokesman and erstwhile CNN contributor Paris Dennard, joins the podcast to discuss the latest shakeup at CNN, whether or not he (and more importantly Republican senators) thinks Judge Jackson is worthy of the Supreme Court, and what Republicans are doing to take advantage of the Bidenflation/gas price explosion across the country. Then, the legendary Teeka Tiwari joins us. Teeka is familiar to the audience of the live show, but this is his maiden voyage on the podcast. He’s a financial advisor, blockchain expert, bitcoin advocate, and Breitbart News Daily sponsor. We go to him whenever we have questions about crypto.
