Jan. 6 Committee Admits It Isn’t Even Trying To Verify ‘Bombshell’ Claims

Two weeks after the Jan. 6 Committee introduced a new series of blockbuster claims from surprise witness Cassidy Hutchinson, most of which have failed close scrutiny, panel members are expecting the press to take her testimony at face value.

California Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a 2019 House impeachment manager who now serves on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s latest anti-Trump probe in the Select Committee, went on CNN Sunday to conduct damage control as the Democrats’ desperate narrative ahead of the November midterms fell apart.

Lofgren was asked about the panel’s questioning of former Trump White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, who spoke with the committee in April but was asked back after explosive allegations from Hutchinson were left uncorroborated. Hutchinson told lawmakers in public testimony that Cipollone pressured the low-level White House aide to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to keep the president from going to the Capitol on Jan. 6 or “we’re going to get charged with every crime imaginable.”

“I saw Mr. Cipollone right before I walked out onto West Exec that morning, and Mr. Cipollone said something to the effect of ‘please make sure we don’t go up to the Capitol, Cassidy. Keep in touch with me,’” Hutchinson said.

Multiple sources told The Federalist, however, that Cipollone was not at the White House on the morning of Jan. 6, 2021. Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, who is leading House Republicans’ investigation of the Capitol riot after Pelosi expelled him from his minority appointment as ranking member of the Select Committee, demanded White House visitation records to probe Hutchinson’s claims.

When pressed on whether the panel asked Cipollone to confirm Hutchinson’s testimony, Lofgren said the committee was uninterested, despite the episode serving as a focal point in Hutchinson’s narrative.

“We never call in witnesses to corroborate other witnesses or to give their reaction to other witnesses,” Lofgren admitted on national television to CNN’s Jake Tapper.

In other words, Lofgren conceded the committee’s proceedings are a Soviet-style partisan show trial operating for the sole purpose of smearing political dissidents, with no regard for the truth.

One day after Hutchinson appeared before lawmakers, Tapper pressed panel member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., who also served as a House impeachment manager last year, on how the committee would corroborate its newest star witness. Among her series of unsubstantiated claims, Hutchinson shared a story on how Trump attempted to violently hijack the presidential limousine and drive himself to the Capitol. The story, however, relied entirely on supposed conversations she had with others who refuted her testimony hours after she took the stand.

“She did not see it happen,” Tapper told Raskin. “Do you have any corroborating evidence?”

“Well, the story that she told is the evidence that I’m aware of,” Raskin said. “And I’ve not seen anything to contradict it.”

Except those who supposedly did see the episode in question said they were prepared to testify on-record and under oath that Hutchinson’s story of a president in rage assaulting Secret Service agents was a fable.

Hutchinson’s appearance is far from the first time the Jan. 6 Committee has injected fictitious narratives into a friendly media environment, whose more than two hours of testimony even became a comic book tale in The Washington Post. In December, committee members deceptively manipulated text messages twice, and panel Vice Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., fabricated a false timeline of Jan. 6 to indict Trump as complicit in the chaos. In its recent hearings, the committee also lied about a DOJ attorney’s involvement in the president’s efforts to halt the certification of the election.

Lofgren admitted, however, that the Jan. 6 show trials aren’t about uncovering truth anyway.

Nolte: Fox News *Still* Hasn’t Updated Hoax Story About Trump Assaulting Secret Service

The on-its-face ludicrous (more on this below) tale of former President Trump lunging at a steering wheel and assaulting a Secret Service agent remains on Fox News without an update about its debunking.

If Fox tries to sneak in and stealth-edit it, here’s a saved screenshot from late last night, hours and hours after the story was shown to be false.

So what we have here is Fox News continuing to spread an OBVIOUS hoax even AFTER it’s been debunked.

Fox is deliberately endorsing a blatant lie that was glaringly false from the moment it was spoken…

This Cassidy Hutchinson woman claimed she heard the “lunge” story third-hand from White House deputy chief of staff Tony Ornato, and now this same Tony Ornato says he never told her that story.

I’m no lawyer, but isn’t that perjury?

Isn’t that… newzzzz?

Moreover, this Hutchinson loon claimed she wrote a note everyone says she didn’t.

Talk about fruit of the poison tree.

Ah, but here’s oh-so fair and balanced Fox News… Here’s Fox News, the outlet that says it’s different from the rest of the media, still spreading an obvious lie, even AFTER it’s been debunked and the witness exposed as a total phony.

The following tale is going to sound apocryphal, but it’s not…

My wife is doing great after some major surgery. She’s been moved to a rehab center, where she continues to improve. All is good there… So I was hanging out with her yesterday afternoon, watching an old movie in her room. After the movie ended, she flipped the channels looking for something else and came across Fox News. This detail matters because I don’t have Fox News in my house for the same reason you don’t open a sewer pipe into your house. Anyway…

We come to Fox News, and there’s Bret Baier, Martha MacCallum, and some idiot from the National Review going on and on about how serious this testimony is and what a game-changer this testimony is, and how former Watergate so-and-so John Dean put it so well, and this evidence is “jaw-dropping.”

At this point, my wife and I have no idea what they’re talking about, but the screaming chyron informs us Something-Something January 6 Committee.

So we’re watching these Very Serious And Important People go on and on and on about how bad this is for Trump. We’re watching Bret Baier, someone we used to admire, literally comparing this new event to Watergate…

“I don’t think there has been testimony like this — that is kind of jaw-dropping, in a way — on the inside workings of a White House in crisis after, you know, at this moment, January 6th, that we have seen since Watergate.”

…and my wife and I are looking at each other — What happened? What is this about? — and then they finally reiterate the story of Mad Dog Trump lunging for the steering wheel and assaulting a Secret Service agent, and… we just broke out laughing.

Because, of course, we did!

The story is ridiculous!

It’s ridiculous on its face!

It’s ridiculous outside of any context!

The context here is that these people have been inventing audacious lies about Trump for seven years, and none of them are true!

The context here is that we’re supposed to believe a sitting president assaulted the Secret Service, and that news didn’t leak for 18 months!

So here we have the most ridiculous, audacious, outlandish lie ever, and here’s Fox News swallowing it whole, spreading it as gospel, and here we are more than 12 hours after it’s been debunked, and Fox News is STILL spreading this hoax.

Have you not figured out yet that the serial liars at Fox News are more afraid of a mean Brian Stelter tweet than any sort of backlash from its audience?

You know why this is?

Because people keep watching Fox News no matter what. Fox News spreads the Christine Blasey Ford hoax, and people keep watching. Fox News trolls its audience by calling Arizona early in 2020, and people keep watching.

Fox News laughs at the “gullible rubes” who keep watching.

And why not? The gullible rubes keep right on watching…

Secret Service: ‘We Were Not Asked’ to Confirm Cassidy Hutchinson’s J6 Story

The Secret Service’s communication chief stated on Wednesday the agency was not asked to corroborate Cassidy Hutchinson’s Tuesday testimony before the January 6 Committee, where she claimed with secondhand knowledge that former President Donald Trump tried to commandeer “the Beast” after his rally that day.

“[W]e were not asked to reappear before the Committee in response to yesterday’s new information and we plan on formally responding on the record,” Anthony Guglielmi wrote in an email to Politico. “We have and will continue to make any member of the Secret Service available.”

Just hours after Hutchinson leveled the accusations against Trump, NBC News reported that Bobby Engel, Trump’s Secret Service man on duty on January 6, would testify under oath to contradict Hutchinson’s story of Trump’s alleged attempt to commandeer the Beast.

With the threatened debunking of Hutchinson’s testimony under oath, the 25-year-old’s attorney, Jody Hunt of Alston & Bird, alleged Hutchinson simply recounted to the committee what she was told secondhand.

“Ms. Hutchinson testified, under oath, and recounted what she was told,” Hunt wrote. “Those with knowledge of the episode also should testify under oath.”

Politico reported Wednesday afternoon the committee had already interviewed the Secret Service agent in question, Engel, whose testimony “is not known to include the stunning details Hutchinson described.”

“It’s not clear why the select panel didn’t seek further corroboration from the Secret Service as it planned Hutchinson’s hearing,” Politico reported. “Members of the select committee have said they welcome any more information about the Secret Service altercation that witnesses would provide under oath.”

Claim Trump “Lunged” For Steering Wheel on January 6 Discredited by Secret Service

Claim Trump “Lunged” For Steering Wheel on January 6 Discredited by Secret Service

“Bullsh*t” – Committee’s credibility suffers another massive blow.

Paul Joseph Watson

The January 6 Committee’s credibility has plummeted after claims by former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson that President Trump “lunged” for the steering wheel of his vehicle and demanded to be taken to the site of the riots were contradicted by the lead Secret Service agent.

Hutchinson testified that Tony Ornato, the then-White House deputy chief of staff, told her that Trump said something like, “I’m the f-ing president, take me up to the Capitol now,” and had “reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel” before then using “his free hand to lunge towards Bobby Engel,” the the presidential driver.

Despite the legacy media breathlessly reporting Hutchinson’s claims without much skepticism, the term ‘Amber Heard 2.0’ subsequently trended on Twitter as Hutchinson’s assertions were demolished.

Within hours, Peter Alexander of NBC News revealed that Engel was prepared to testify “under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel.”

Trump himself also asserted that the incident never happened.

Secret Service sources also reporter Julio Rosas that the story is “bullshit.”

Hutchinson appears to be pursuing a personal vendetta against Trump because he “personally turned her request down” when she tried to get a job at Mar-a-Lago.

Hutchinson also apparently told another outright lie during her testimony when she claimed she had written a note of a statement for Trump to release on January 6.

The note was actually penned by Former Trump White House lawyer Eric Herschmann.

“The handwritten note that Cassidy Hutchinson testified was written by her was in fact written by Eric Herschmann on January 6, 2021,” a spokesperson for Herschmann told ABC News Tuesday evening.

It remains to be seen whether Hutchinson will face any consequences for apparently lying under oath, although the already dubious credibility of the January 6 Committee has taken a further massive blow.

“The January 6 committee clowned itself,” summarized Tim Young.

Report: Lead Secret Service Agent Will Testify Trump Did Not Try to Commandeer Car on January 6

**This is a developing story. Scroll down for updates.**

The lead Secret Service agent in charge of President Trump’s detail on January 6 will reportedly testify that the former president did not try to commandeer his suburban during the riots, thereby contradicting testimony from former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson on Tuesday.

News of the testimony broke on Twitter from Peter Alexander of NBC News, the furthest thing from a Trump ally, who said that a source close to the Secret Service said that agent Bobby Engel will testify.

“A source close to the Secret Service tells me both Bobby Engel, the lead agent, and the presidential limousine/SUV driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel,” he tweeted.

ABC News confirmed as well:

Should the report prove accurate and Bobby Engel’s testimony hold up, it will be a huge blow to the January 6 committee, whose Tuesday star witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, testified that former President Trump literally tried to commandeer the presidential suburban during the January 6 riot and became borderline violent when Bobby Engel tried to stop him. Hutchinson said she learned of the story from Tony Ornato, the White House deputy chief of staff.

“I noticed the head of Mr. Trump’s security detail sitting in a chair, looking somewhat discombobulated, a little lost,” Hutchinson testified. “I looked at Tony, he said, ‘Did you effing hear what happened in the Beast?’ I said, ‘No, Tony, I just got back, what happened?’ Hutchinson continued:

Tony proceeded to tell me that when the president got in the Beast, he was under the impression from Mr. Meadows that the off-the-record movement to the Capitol was still possible and likely to happen but that Bobby had more information. As the president had gotten into the vehicle with Bobby, he thought that they were going up to the Capitol. And when Bobby had relayed to him that we’re not; we don’t have the assets to do it; it’s not secure; we’re going back to the West Wing, the president had a very strong, very angry response to that.

Hutchinson further testified that Trump “said something to the effect of, ‘I’m the effing president, take me up to the Capitol now.’”

When Bobby Engel allegedly told Trump that they would be going back to the West Wing, Hutchinson said the former president became borderline violent. Hutchinson said:

The president reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engel grabbed his arm, said, ‘Sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel, we’re going back to the West Wing, we’re not going to the Capitol.’ Mr. Trump then used his free hand to lunge towards Bobby Engel.

News of Bobby Engel’s testimony will come after January 6 Committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said on CNN that Hutchinson’s statements were essentially a smoking gun:

UPDATE:  Shortly after the publication of this article, Nicole Sganga of CBS News reported that both Bobby Engel and former President Trump’s driver would contradict Hutchinson’s testimony:

CNN correspondent Shimon Prokupecz also reported that a Secret Service official familiar with the matter said that Tony Ornato denies telling Cassidy Hutchinson that former President Trump lunged for the steering wheel. Also, per Prokupecz, the Secret Service issued the following statement:

The United States Secret Service has been cooperating with the Select Committee since its inception in spring 2021, and will continue to do so, including by responding on the record to the Committee regarding the new allegations surfaced in today’s testimony.

CNN’s Gabby Orr is also reporting on Ornato’s denial of Hutchinson’s testimony; however, the January 6 Committee spokesperson has told CNN: “The Committee trusts the credibility of a witness who was willing to testify under oath & in public but is also willing to hear any information that others may have that would aid in their investigation.”

This is a developing story.

Joe Biden Lectures Americans on Gun Control After Hunter Admitted to Firearm Malpractice

President Joe Biden on Monday lectured Americans about gun control after Hunter Biden admitted to firearm safety malpractice.

“The Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute. You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed,” Biden said. “I think things have gotten so bad that everybody is getting more rational about it.”

A cannon that may pre-date the Revolutionary War is seen in Wilmington, Delaware.

Joe Biden’s pro-gun control talking points are at odds with the standard applied to Biden’s family. In 2021, Hunter lied to obtain a weapon in 2018 by failing to disclose he had a drug problem, the New York Post reported. Hunter has never been charged with wrongdoing with regard to that lie, and the weapon has disappeared.

In a 2019 text message, Hunter revealed the FBI had gotten involved in the case. Speaking about Hallie Biden, his former sister-in-law-turned-lover, Hunter said she threw the gun into a grocery store dumpster in Wilmington, Delaware:

She stole the gun out of my trunk lock box and threw it in a garbage can full to the top at Jansens [sic]. Then told me it was my problem to deal with.

Then when the police the FBI the secret service came on the scene she said she took it from me because she was scared I would harm myself due to my drug and alcohol problem and our volatile relationship and that she was afraid for the kids.

Another string from Hunter’s texts adds: “And I freaked when I saw it was missing 10 minutes after she took it and when she went back to get it after I scared the s–t out of her it was gone which led to state police investigation of me. True story.”
In 2021, the establishment media reported that the FBI was heavily involved in Hunter’s reckless gun incident, which if true, would be corrupt, but also would contradict Joe Biden’s political talking points on gun control. Politico reported:

But a curious thing happened at the time: Secret Service agents approached the owner of the store where Hunter bought the gun and asked to take the paperwork involving the sale, according to two people, one of whom has firsthand knowledge of the episode and the other was briefed by a Secret Service agent after the fact.

The gun store owner refused to supply the paperwork, suspecting that the Secret Service officers wanted to hide Hunter’s ownership of the missing gun in case it were to be involved in a crime, the two people said. The owner, Ron Palmieri, later turned over the papers to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which oversees federal gun laws.

The Secret Service says it has no record of its agents investigating the incident, and Joe Biden, who was not under protection at the time, said through a spokesperson he has no knowledge of any Secret Service involvement.

This is not the first time Biden has erroneously claimed that people couldn’t purchase cannons at the time the Second Amendment came into being. Outlets as varied on the political spectrum as the Washington Post, Politifact, and Breitbart News have debunked that talking point.

Taxpayer-Funded Secret Service Shells Out $30,000 A Month On Malibu Mansion To Protect Hunter Biden

The taxpayer-funded Secret Service is reportedly shelling out at least $30,000 a month to rent a seaside Malibu mansion close to Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s scandal-plagued son, to protect him.

The security detail reportedly started renting a “resort-style” home in one of the priciest California cities last year to stay close to the amateur artist’s own rented Malibu property, which costs $10,000 less per month according to a report from ABC News.

Secret Service rented the $6 million “Spanish-style estate” with “six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a gym, a tasting room, a built-in barbecue, a pool, a spa,” and “gorgeous ocean views” in the same neighborhood as Hunter, who is under federal investigation for potential tax crimes and scrutiny for his shady overseas business dealings. Hunter’s own lavish living space in Malibu features a “spacious park-like yard” with “a pool, a spa, a built-in barbecue bar, and alfresco dining.”

A retired senior Secret Service agent quoted by ABC blamed the security agency’s pricey and lavish living choice on the expensive housing market.

While it’s customary for Secret Service to offer protection to family members of the president, the Malibu mansion rental is not the first time the agency has reached beyond its duties to accommodate the young Biden or rescue him from criminal situations.

In the fall of 2016, a Hertz rental car office in Arizona discovered a crack pipe, white powder, credit cards, and Beau Biden’s attorney general badge in a car Hunter had rented. The rental agency reported the drug paraphernalia discovery to local police, who filed a narcotics offense report but later decided not to charge the Biden son after Secret Service agents got involved and claimed Hunter was “secure/well.”

Secret Service also reportedly tried to interfere in an investigation into Hunter’s gun, which he seems to have purchased illegally and which went temporarily missing after his late brother’s wife and then-love interest threw it away in a trash can near a grocery store in 2018.

When police got involved after the .38 revolver went missing, two Secret Service agents equipped with “badges and identification cards” reportedly visited the gun store where Hunter purchased the firearm earlier that month and demanded that the owner turn over the Firearms Transaction Record used during the purchase. The store owner refused because he “suspected that the Secret Service officers wanted to hide Hunter’s ownership of the missing gun in case it were to be involved in a crime.”

The Secret Service later denied any official involvement in the situation, citing that the Biden family’s official protection only spanned from 2009 to 2017. Secret Service formally resumed protection for Hunter in June 2020 shortly after his father won the Democratic presidential nomination and added more security detail after Biden assumed office but “kept an informal hand in maintaining the former vice president’s security” even between 2017 and 2020.

Report: Secret Service Pays $30k/Mo for Malibu Mansion to Protect Hunter Biden

Hunter Biden is renting a home in Malibu, California, for $20,000 per month — and the Secret Service is paying $30,000 per month to rent an adjacent home to provide him with 24/7 protection, according to a report Monday by ABC News.

The president’s son is living in the exclusive location and pursuing his art career, even as critics call for a special counsel to take over the investigation into his alleged influence-peddling, which is documented on his infamous laptop, now verified.

ABC News reports:

Hunter Biden is apparently spending his father’s presidency living in luxury in Malibu — and so is his taxpayer-funded security detail.

The Secret Service detail protecting the president’s controversial son has been paying more than $30,000 a month to rent out a swanky Malibu, California, mansion for nearly a year, sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.

In Malibu, Hunter Biden’s digs include a four-bedroom, three-bathroom “resort-style” home with an open floor plan, vaulted high ceilings, chef’s kitchen and French doors, according to a description on its property listing. The mansion also features a “spacious park-like yard” with a pool, a spa, a built-in barbecue bar, and alfresco dining, according to the listing.

The home in which Hunter Biden lives appears to be a secluded location, listed at one-tenth the value of neighboring homes, though other real estate sites put the value of the home above $3 million.

The Secret Service has been accused of covering up  Hunter Biden’s allegedly wild lifestyle, as well as an allegedly unlawful gun purchase. During that purchase, Biden filled out a form declaring that he was not a drug user, during a time when he has admitted elsewhere that he was abusing drugs, thus violating the kind of law his father has vowed to enforce as a means of gun control.
