On November 2, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai attended a conference in Washington, D.C., co-hosted by the American Iron and Steel Institute and the American Iron and Steel Manufacturers Association. At the meeting, Tai stressed that the U.S. government would do its level best to mitigate the loss caused by the excess steel imports from Communist China to the U.S. steel industry and market, as well as to boost the competitiveness of the U.S. steel industry.

Tai noted that since the steel industry is the foundation for the manufacturing industry, during the past 20 years, the Chinese Communist Regime has boosted its steel output via massive subsidies, environmental sacrifice, labor exploitation, and low price dumping, as well as other unfair competitive means, which is unsustainable.

As a response, Tai added the U.S. would utilize and develop new tools and simultaneously work with other economies and countries to safeguard itself against the losses caused by years of unfair competition from the Chinese Communist Party.
